Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) is located on the southern end of Gold Coast. We are the largest attraction within the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) portfolio and feature a vibrant and varied collection of Australian wildlife and non-native exotics located just one block back from beautiful Currumbin beach. Our Retail team are currently seeking friendly & experienced retail professionals to join our team as seasonal casuals. Here at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary we deliver a fast paced, high volume retail experience, always in combination with excellent service to all our guests. Our retail team takes pride in their work, the presentation of their shop floors and in their excellent sales results. As part of the commercial revenue departments for CWS, the retail team proudly play a significant role in generating revenue to fund the operations here, including our conservation programs and the care of our animals. Details about this Position: As a Retail Assistant, you will be required to contribute to delivering an amazing guest experience and achieve daily sales targets through excellent product knowledge.Your duties will include actively engaging with guests, maximising sales opportunities, cash control, stock & shrinkage control and dispute resolution.Participation and commitment to achieving departmental objectives is a core element of this role, along with being an energetic and positive team player.Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary operates 4 busy retail outlets across the site and also operate vending stations during peak trade. You may work at any of these outlets throughout the day.This position will range from Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster. We cannot guarantee hours however expect weekly hours to range from 10 to 25 hours and up to 38 hours during peak trade.The seasonal casual positions are from November 2020 until February 2021 with potential to be extended subject to business needs.Full availability over QLD and NSW School Holiday periods is essential.Pay and work conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreations Award 2020.You must be comfortable working in an outdoor environment that includes birds and reptiles.Non-smokers are preferred. Selection Criteria:Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail.High level of customer service ability is essential, with experience in a fast-paced retail organisation.Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.You must have excellent communication skills and are very comfortable communicating with both local and international customers to assist them with their needs.High standard of personal presentation and physically fit able to lift and move items up to 10kg and can walk long distances indoors and outdoors, in all weathers.Can demonstrate a flexible, cooperative, ‘can-do’ attitude.
